…Don’t take the the title literally!
Hey guys! Hopefully the title has made sense to some of you, today’s post is going to be sort of a review! I recently completed the set of all three Naked Palette’s by Urban Decay and I thought I’d talk about which one is my favourite, what they’re like and what my overall opinion is!
So I brought the palette’s in the completely wrong order, I started with 2, then 3 and then finished with 1! I am a huge fan of the Urban Decay eyeshadows, I think the colours are beautiful and super pigmented and last for so long – I’ve hardly made a dent in any of them!
I’m going to talk about them in the right order and just tell you what I think and talk through the colours and which are my favourites! So the Naked 1 is quite a warm toned palette with 12 shadows, it has more brown/gold colours with two or three matte shades and the rest being shimmery – which is pretty common with the Urban Decay palette’s. I have now had about a week to play with this palette and get used to it and so far I am totally in love, it’s definitely my kind of palette and has all the colours I would want for any make-up look! The main thing I look for in eyeshadow’s is how well pigmented they are because if you have to sit layering it on your brush before even applying it then what’s the point? I find with this palette the shadows are super pigmented and I only have to apply 2 coats maximum to my brush!
So the first colour in the palette is Virgin; a very light shimmery beige colour, I normally use this all over my lid as a base colour and on my brow bone as a highlight! Next is Sin; one of my favourite colours ever! I would associate this with Victoria’s Secret model make-up because I think it has the perfect light pink shimmer, I adore this and have worn it most days! Third is Naked; I actually use this as my eyebrow colour as it’s basically the perfect match, but I also use it in my crease for some light definition, it’s just a light matte brown – an essential in any shadow palette! Sidecar; a super pretty champagne colour that isn’t too much but gives the perfect amount of colour for all over the lid or on your bottom lash line!
Then you have Buck; which is more of a red toned brown, again it’s matte and perfect for in the crease as it gives slightly more definition than Naked. Half Baked; my all time favourite Urban Decay shadow! This is also in the Naked 2 which made me so excited, it’s just a gorgeous shimmery gold and I wear this pretty much every single day, I think it looks beautiful on anyone but it’s one of those shades that would look incredible on darker skin tones! Then we have Smog; kind of similar to Sidecar but just a bit darker and more gold/champagne toned, it’s super pretty and I use this in my crease if I’m going for a more smokey eye and then add Darkhorse on top; an incredibly pretty slightly shimmery dark brown shade, I’ve really been loving this since I got the palette!
Finally in the last section of the palette, Toasted; which I have only tried once very briefly, a super pretty colour almost like a shimmery copper, I think this colour would be perfect in Autumn/Winter or at Christmas time! Then you have Hustle; it looks like a normal brown shimmer in the palette but once on the skin it looks almost grey, it’s a very subtle shade with a gorgeous shimmer and I will definitely be wearing this more! Next is Creep; a black shadow with a very small amount of shimmer, perfect for a gorgeous smokey eye! Lastly, Gunmetal; again I haven’t had too much time to play around but when I first saw the palette this shade definitely caught my eye, it’s so different to the other shadows and has the most pretty finish when applied, it is a cross between blue and silver with a subtle shimmer, this colour reminds me of mermaids for some reason! I think it would look gorgeous on someone with green eyes as well! So that’s it for the first palette, sorry if this post is dragging I forgot to mention it could be a bit long as I’m going through all three!
The Naked 2 is pretty similar in it’s shades and their tones, it is a really beautiful palette and I have absolutely loved it! It has three matte shades, including a matte black which I think is super good considering the 1 only had a shimmery one.
So like the Naked 1, the first few colours are very light and more for everyday I would say. First off we have Foxy; an extremely light matte cream shade, I love this shadow and used it basically everyday for about 6 months, it’s the perfect base and highlight colour especially because it’s matte! Again we have my favourite, Half Baked! Then there is Bootycall; another that has been well and truly loved, I think it’s the best ‘day time’ colour, it’s just a light peachy shimmery colour and is incredibly pigmented. Next we have Chopper; which is a seriously pretty champagne/peach shade, I think this colour is gorgeous and isn’t too pigmented but that’s the best part as you only need a tiny amount for a beautiful finish.
As you can see the next colour has had a lot of use! Tease; what I would call the perfect crease colour and also my other perfect eyebrow colour for a while – but it’s just a bit too light now and I have to use it sparingly! It’s just a lovely matte brown but it’s not too intense so perfect for everyday! Next is Snakebite; another personal favourite, it’s a lot like Darkhorse from the first palette but it has a slightly different tone to it, it’s a very gold toned brown but is also super dark – hoping I’m making sense?! I’m the worst at describing colours! Suspect; also quite similar to Smog from the previous palette, it’s super pretty and extremely pigmented, its just a beautiful dark champagne/gold with hints of brown in! Then we have Pistol; a very dark shimmery grey, almost silver, this is an extremely pretty colour and I would use it more if I was going anywhere special for more dramatic make-up!
Next is Verve; I really love this colour and wish I could use it on a daily basis but I sometimes like to save colours for more ‘special’ occasions, it’s just a gorgeous shimmery silver, perfect for the inner corners of your eyes and all over the lid when doing a darker smokey eye! Then we have YDK; which is kind of similar to Suspect, it’s very champagne toned, with silver in it, super pretty and I wear this quite a lot all over my lid! Busted is just a super dark shimmery brown, quite like Snakebite but a lot darker, highly pigmented again so definitely don’t use a lot when applying! Finally we have Blackout; just a matte black which I think is an essential in any eyeshadow palette!
Last of all we have the Naked 3 which is extremely different to the 1 & 2, it’s basically all rose gold shades, light pinks/peaches/champagne’s, it is a gorgeous palette, however, I wouldn’t suggest to anyone who prefers neutral/darker colours as it’s very peachy/gold toned!
First off we have Strange; a light matte white shade, again, perfect as a base and highlighter like the first two palettes, it’s also very very pigmented so you only need to apply a small amount! Dust; a very very light subtle pink shade, not extremely pigmented so you do need quite a bit on the brush to get the colour through, but it’s the perfect colour for just basic everyday or for school if you want something pretty but quite unnoticeable! Next up is Burnout; which looks pretty similar to Dust but is definitely more peachy toned, I would think it has hints of orange but they are hardly noticeable, it’s a super pretty colour and looks perfect swooped all over the lid and has the perfect amount of shimmer. Then we have Limit; this probably looks quite brown but it’s definitely not brown, it’s a matte shade and is purple toned, it’s not very dark at all it’s actually quite light, I would consider it as the same colour as my natural darkness to my eyes, so it just gives that extra bit of definition without just looking tired!
Next is Buzz; a mauve toned rose/pink shade it’s super pretty, very pigmented and quite light regardless to the picture which doesn’t do any of these shades justice! I wear this colour quite a lot when I have fake tanned because it stands out so well on darker skin, it reminds me of Sleeping Beauty or Rapunzel – don’t ask! Then we have Trick; an extremely light champagne colour, I kind of wish this was more pigmented because it is a really pretty shade, it’s just so annoying having to pack so much on just to get a hint of the colour, however, it does give a lovely shimmer so for everyday it’s pretty perfect but not very pigmented which is a bit of a let down. Nooner; again it probably looks brown but like I said all of the shades in this palette are very rosey toned or purply (excuse my awful grammar), but this is just a dark purple toned matte shade, perfect for in your crease or lower lash line and it has the perfect amount of pigmentation! Next is Liar; probably my favourite shade in the palette, it’s a very pigmented champagne/rose shade and has a gorgeous shimmer effect when on the lid.
In the last section we have Factory; which is almost a very dark version of Liar, it’s extremely pretty and very pigmented. Then we have Mugshot; which looks completely different on skin to in the palette! It looks almost copper, it’s a rose toned colour again but is fairly dark with a good amount of pigmentation. Darkside; is actually pretty much what it looks like, just a very dark plain colour, it’s quite strange as I can’t describe what it looks like but it is very dark and would be a perfect crease colour! Finally we have Blackheart; which is a very dark shade with a LOT of rose/copper flicks through it, it’s a really different shade and I really love it even though I’ve not really worn it much but it’s so pretty and shimmery, it would be beautiful for Halloween make-up or something!
So that’s all of the palette’s! Sorry if this was annoyingly long, just get carried away and like to go really in depth – bad habit of mine. Anyway, I definitely love Urban Decay’s Naked Palette’s – all three, but if I had to choose a favourite I would probably go with 2, just because it has all of my favourite kinds of shades in it and it can be used for daytime looks or night time looks, it’s just the perfect variation! I also really love the 1 as it is SO similar to 2! My only problem with 3 is that the colours aren’t pigmented enough, some are just so pretty in the palette but literally take forever to get onto your lid, I do really love it but it’s not my favourite and I wish the colours were just that bit more pigmented!
